Be A Volunteer
Inspired by the Nativity-Miguel model, Good Shepherd School is open year-round and has an extended school day offering enrichment activities in areas such as sports, music, art, drama, technology, and service. GSS seeks to develop young people with a deep-rooted passion for faith, community, service, and social justice. Volunteers play an essential role in ensuring that GSS is able to offer a quality extended-day schedule to our students. Volunteers will be asked to sign up for a weekly spot to assist with lunch activities or to facilitate activities during the Enrichment Program. Enrichment activities may include supervising groups of students, facilitating new sports or clubs, tutoring, or helping with standardized test preparation. GSS is an ideal placement for students interested in elementary education or in working with elementary-aged children. Service learners will gain experience working in a classroom setting and will have the opportunity to gain a better understanding of best practices in urban education and the importance of education in creating lasting social change. During the school year, times for volunteering are 10:30AM-1 PM daily to assist with lunch and recess, and Monday through Thursday afternoons from 3:45PM-5:15PM for Enrichment activities.
