Fr Harry Tompson Golf Classic 2021 (Re-Scheduled from 2020)

Picture
The 18th annual Fr Harry Tompson Golf Classic will (hopefully) go down as the longest anticipated event finally allowed to happen in the school's history.  Originally planned for the Friday after the city-wide shut down due to the pandemic, the 2020 event was finally allowed to tee off on Friday, June 4, 2021.  Finding a new home at Lakewood Golf Club could not have gone smoother!  The golfers were first treated to lunch consisting of jambalaya, pulled pork, sandwiches, salad,  seafood pasta, and cookies donated and prepared by chefs from across the metro area, Pigeon's catering, and NOCCA.

After lunch, the over 100 golfers teed off for an afternoon of pars, birdies, and even an eagle!  Beverage carts watered the course as food and bar stops along the way provided by Pigeon's Catering and Tito's Vodka kept spirits high during the overcast afternoon.  Thanks to Fr Harry's watchful eye from above, the tournament only saw a minimal sprinkle of rain for a short time, but not a single damper could keep the GSS supporters from helping the deserving kids and families.

Once all 18 holes were completed, the golfers returned for tacos, chips, salsa, and guacamole provided by Johnny Sanchez as the scores were tallied and prizes drawn.  In the end, the winners were the many students and families of GSS as the generous support from sponsors and players returned the Fr Harry Tompson Golf Classic to its pre-pandemic glory!
