Summer Academics & Fun at GSS

Summer activities are in full swing at GSS!  The 6 week program is half-way complete and the students could not be having more fun.  A combination of academics and fun, the GSS summer program helps to keep the students on grade level while enjoying their time off from the regular school year.  Students are taken on field trips to Rock n Bowl, Airline Skate Center, the movies, among others along with snowballs and inflatables on campus.  Academic sessions focus on math, ELA, and Science with extra art and PBL classes.  2nd graders presented their PBL and worked closely with LOOP NOLA.  Some students even traveled to St. Stanislaus for their over-night camp.  Overall, the GSS students are excited to be spending their summer at GSS!

The Good Shepherd Nativity Mission School, Inc., seeks to help low-income, urban youth in order to realize their fullest potential as productive members of society by providing them with an extended-day, year-round, quality education, integrated with personal, moral and spiritual development, and continued guidance during the students' further education.

The Judeo-Christian values which have inspired the Nativity model include a respect for the dignity and potential of each person, a responsibility to assist the poor and those in need, a strong sense of community within the one family of God, and the obligation to promote a society characterized by social justice. In this Nativity model, students are enrolled without regard to race, color, religion, or ethnicity.
