Christmas Abound: Backpack Program, Room Mom's, and Food Distribution
Christmas was forced to look a little different this year with the covid restrictions, but the Christmas Spirit was alive and well on Agriculture Street thanks to the many supporters! Instead of the usual visit and distribution, GSS supporters dropped off items for distribution. Again this year, students were given Christmas backpacks organized by Ms. Laurie Pierce Martin and family, and generously donated by the Martin family, Retif Oil & Fuel, St. George Episcopal School, and many members of the community. The Room Mom's dropped by with gifts, crafts, and their usual joy to brighten the smiles on the student faces. And at the end of the week, 2 week meal kits went home with students consisting of breakfast, lunch, supper, and a snack provided by the federal and state food program. Students were also gifted a GSS sweatshirt that can be worn on campus as part of the uniform. These sweatshirts were provided by donors through the backpack program as well as HUB International and Gulf Coast Office Products.
Thank you to the many donors who generously shopped for the GSS students this Christmas Season and thank you to our Room Moms who again brought the Christmas season to life!
