1st Grade Social Studies Maps

While studying their unit on maps, GSS 1st grade teachers Ms. Morgan and Ms. Rachel wanted the students to have a hands-on experience and "step into their maps."  To achieve this goal, GSS 1st graders built a 3D map of their home and neighborhood.  The students included things like trees, plants, cars, fire hydrants, street signs, and much more onto their 3D maps.  The students then brought the projects to school so that they could tell their classmates about their neighborhood and the the fun things they do with their friends in the neighborhood.  In the end, students were able to use their creativity to sculpt their masterpiece neighborhoods.

In this Nativity model, students are enrolled without regard to race, color, religion, or ethnicity.
