Before tee-off, the golfers registered and were given a pair of Goodr golf glasses as a special thank you gift. They were also treated to a lunch of fried chicken, lobster mac and cheese, green beans, bread pudding, and corn bread muffins provided by New Orleans Marriott.
After a crazy series of thunderstorms overnight and in the morning, the course was perfectly clear and perfect for a 12:30 tee off. Even more surprisingly, the course was dry by tee off. With perfect weather, a clear day, and the excitement to be supporting a great cause, the golfers returned from their 18 hole adventure with some low scores. A special thank you goes out to our sponsors for food and beverage as well as our over 120 golfers who attended to support a great cause! More Photos Here |

The Good Shepherd 5th and 6th grade boys were recently treated to a fun, exciting, and educational experience thanks to Stuart Hall School and The Hovercraft Project. Stuart Hall invited the boys to their campus for the STEM project where the students built and rode hovercrafts. The Hovercraft Project travels the United States teaching students the principles behind how and why a hovercraft is possible and then helps the students to build and ride their own hovercraft.

To celebrate Black History Month, students spent the month celebrating the history and tradition of African Americans in the United States. Students created presentations, danced traditional dances, sang songs, and much more! Although black history is the focus of February each year, GSS teaches and knows the importance of learning history throughout the entire academic year. Thank you to the many students and teachers who participated in this year's activities and lessons!

Reading Across AmericaEach year, National Read Across America Day is celebrated on March 2nd, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. The Good Shepherd School celebrated the reading initiatives by promoting reading in children by inviting over 20 community guest readers (i.e. educators, doctors, judges, artists, entrepreneurs, etc.) to read books in all classrooms. In addition, our 7th grade students joined in the reading adventure to read books to students in grades PreK-3rd. Meanwhile, our week-long Dr. Seuss' events included wearing Wacky hats, mixed match socks, pajamas, and playing Dr. Seuss Bingo. GSS teachers even participated in the reading activities.
